MAIN EVENT (1): SURF N RUN 

  1. What is Surf N Run?

    Participant is to complete a Surf route of approx. 400m and a Run route of approx. 5.5km. 

  1. When and Where will the Surf N Run be held?

    Sunday, 7 February 2009 at Siloso Beach, Sentosa. 

  1. How many Race Categories are there?

    3 main categories for Individuals and Team of 2.

    1. Institutional Challenge (Open to current students from JCs, Pre-U Institutes, Polytechnics & ITEs) 
      Men’s Institutional 
      Women’s Institutional 
      Mixed Institutional

      * For Institutional Challenge, school with the highest number 
      of points for each Institutional Category wins the  
      Institutional Challenge. The points are allocated as follows: 
      1st - 10 points 
      2nd - 9 points 
      3rd - 8 points 
      … 
      10th - 1 point

    1. Open Event (Public, age 16 and above as of year 2010) 
      Men’s Open 
      Women’s Open 
      Men’s Doubles Open 
      Women’s Doubles Open 
      Mixed Doubles Open 
    2. Closed Event (NTU/NIE students & staffs only) 
      Men’s Closed 
      Women’s Closed 
      Men’s Doubles Closed 
      Women’s Doubles Closed 
      Mixed Closed

    * Men’s Doubles (1 Male surf + 1 Male run) 
    * Women’s Doubles (1 Female surf + 1 Female run) 
    * Mixed Institutional/Open/Closed (1 Male surf/run + 1 Female run/surf)     

  1. Where is the Start Point and Finish Point?

    Start Point and Finish Point for all races will be at Siloso Beach, Sentosa. 

  1. What time does each Race Start?

    Details will be posted online in late January.

  1. Am I eligible to participate in More Than One Category / Event (Main Event & Side Event)?

    Yes. However, if any of the events is clashed with another, Organisers will not be held responsible. 

  1. Am I eligible for 2 Prizes if I qualify for both?

    Yes.  

  1. Am I eligible for 2 or More Goodies Bags if I register for More Than One Category / Event?

    No. 

  1. If I cannot make it for the race due to last minute commitments, can I get a friend / replacement to take my place?

    No. Race category and race entry are strictly non-transferable. 

  1. What if I am injured during the race or otherwise unable to finish the race?

    Safety precautions are taken. Participants who are injured and are unable to finish the race, can seek for medical attention from stationed marshals or manned first aid post. Failure to complete the race, participant will be considered disqualified. 

  1. Where can I find a detailed map of the route?

    Check back from late January onwards. 

  1. When is the ‘Early Bird Period’ and ‘Normal Period’?

    Early Bird Period, 1 to 31 December 2009. Normal Period, 1 to 22 January 2010. 

  1. When does the Registration Close?

    By 22 January 2010.

    MAIN EVENT (2): SURF N HUNT    NEW! 

  1. What is Surf N Hunt?

    Participant is to complete a Surf route of approx. 400m and a Hunt mission around Sentosa. 

  1. When and Where will the Surf N Hunt be held?

    Sunday, 7 February 2009 around Sentosa. 

  1. How many Race Categories are there?

    2 main categories: 

    A) Lovers’ Challenge 
    * Each team of 2 members must consist a male and a female. Both are to Surf together and complete the Hunt together. The overall score will be based on the completed timing and score points rewarded. 

    B) Team Challenge

    * Each team of 4 members must consist a minimum of 1 female. For Surfing, 2 members will Surf individually whereas the other 2 members will complete another task on shore. All 4 members are to complete the Hunt together. Should anyone fails to complete any task; the whole team will be disqualified. The overall score will be based on the completed timing and rewarded score points. 

    * For Lovers’ Challenge and Team Category, there will NOT be any distinguish between Public or NTU/NIE participants. 

  1. What time does Surf N Hunt Start?
  1. What if I don't know how to surf?
    The surfing part of the race is not really the conventional surfing on the waves. For the surf part of the race, participants have to lying chest down on the surfboard and use your arms to paddle yourself forward through the waters. Legs have to be on the surf board at all times. For lover's challenge, both participants will be on one surf board paddling together.
